Virtual Communion Instructions
If it is safely possible, have a candle sitting on a table close-by. Those who have candles will light them together at the beginning of the sacrament service and extinguish them at the end.
Set apart your bread and wine or grape juice for use during the service. You may want to set them by the candle, if you have one. If you do not have grape juice or wine, consider using water which could symbolize the waters of our baptism.
During our communion celebration, at the words of institution, “On the night which Jesus was betrayed…”, we all will hold up each corresponding element. “He took the bread…” hold up the bread. “He took the cup…” hold up the cup.
Partake of the bread and the cup together with all those virtually gathered and as you would during worship at church: reverently, giving thanks to God for Christ’s act of love on the cross and God’s grace and mercy.
Those who are unable to obtain the elements or a candle are still welcome to join us in prayer and personal reflection.
SERVICE OF REMEMBRANCE
Monday, May 25 at 11:00 a.m.
Join us for a simple service as we honor those who are serving, have served, or have lost their lives in service to our country defending our freedoms. We will spend time in prayer and reflection, recognize veterans and their families, sing patriotic songs, and read the names of Virginians lost in the line of duty during the past year.
ORDINATION AND INSTALLATION OF ELDERS
Pentecost Sunday, May 31
During our Pentecost worship service, we will be ordaining and installing Alise Anzelone, as a new elder. We will install Mike Jackson, Kent Pankey, Greta Reeves, Alan Sestak, and Beth Unroe to serve on Session.
They will be joining continuing elders Vicki Callear, George Comstock, Alisha Gallini, Mitzi Humphrey, Glenn Hurlbert, Barbara Jacocks, Kathy Kelley, Marta Rowe, John Rupp, Sidney Whitlock, and Cindy Wright.. We certainly have a strong and dedicated leadership team for the coming year of transition, mission and ministry together!
During this difficult time, our Pentecost Offering support is so important.
On Sunday, May 31, Bon Air Presbyterian Church will be collecting the Pentecost offering, one of the PCUSA’s denominational offerings. 40% of the Pentecost Offering is used by the local church to support programs in their communities that address at-risk youth, and the remaining 60% goes to the
PCUSA for programs that also support at-risk youth, children, and young adults throughout our country and the world.
As we did last year, the Church and Society Ministry Team has decided to use the 40% local share to send 4 children from our Christmas Angel Tree ministry, to summer camp at no cost to their families. After such difficult times, what a gift BAPC could provide these young children. A chance to experience Virginia United Methodist’s All God’s Children Camp at Camp Chanco on the James this summer, and a chance to run around with new friends in fresh air!
This is a wonderful opportunity for all of us to help make a really wonderful summer for 4 of our Angel Tree kids. Please consider donating to the Pentecost offering on May 31.
Offerings may be sent to:
Bon Air Presbyterian Church, 9201 W. Huguenot Rd.,
N. Chesterfield, VA 23235
8:30 a.m. Sabbath Worship

9:45 a.m.Christian Education Hour
Preschool, Elementary, Youth and Adult classes.
11:00 a.m. Classic Worship
Join us as we worship the living God through liturgy, music, preaching and sacraments.
Young children are welcome to join us for worship through the “Conversations with Children” and then may stay with their families in worship or leave for “Godly Play.”
Child care is available in our Nursery Room throughout the morning for infants through 3 years old.
Our mission and ministry flows out of our worship. Each Sunday, we gather to worship with reverence, relevance, openness, and joy. Bon Air is a family friendly church and children are welcomed in worship. Activity bags are available for children from an usher. Childcare for infants through two year olds is available in our nursery. The Sacrament of Holy Communion is offered on the first Sunday of each month and other feast days and special occasions. All baptized persons are welcome at the Lord’s Table.
Music is an import part of our worship. We sing God’s praises and enter into God’s presence with wonder and thanksgiving. Our choir and bell choir lead us at the 11:00 a.m. service.
CHILDREN’S WORSHIP AND GATHERING – 10:30 a.m.
Children and families, join us at 10:30 a.m. for a time of singing, stories, prayer and connecting with each other that is made especially for our elementary school and preschool families. We are trying to make it broad enough to connect with all of our younger kids. Hope you’ll join us!
