Music Ministry

Music is a vital avenue of expressing our faith and devotion to God in the life of the church.  Whether a beginner or seasoned musician, you are invited to share your musical talents through participating in one of our ensembles.

Chancel Choir is the adult choir that sings regularly at the 11:00 a.m. worship service each week and at special services throughout the year. The Adult Choir is composed of volunteers and supported by a quartet of professional musicians.  The choir sings the best of music from past and present composers and is often accompanied by guest instrumentalists.

Chancel Ringers is an advanced group of handbell ringers who ring the third Sunday of each month in worship, and at special services during the church year, as well as for organizations in the community and for area handbell festivals.

Children and Youth present the annual Christmas Musical as well as participate in the area Youth Choir Jam festival each November and the Children’s Choir Festival in the winter or spring.

Cantus Choir is the choir for elementary aged children that practices weekly before our Wednesday night dinners.  The choir sings for worship services several times a year.  Children in Grades 1-5 meet on Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. in the Children’s Music Room.

Cherub Choir is for children ages 4 through kindergarten and meets on Sunday mornings right after Sunday School (10:30-10:45) in the Children’s Music Room.

Second Sunday South of the James is the Annual Concert Series of Bon Air Presbyterian Church, which presents guest musicians, instrumentalists and choral groups in concert the second Sunday of October through May.

Messiah SingAlong is the December concert of the SSSJ. Our annual Messiah Sing-Along continues to fill our sanctuary with music and guests from the community.
