Coming to church for the first time may feel a bit intimidating if you are unfamiliar with worship. At Bon Air Presbyterian Church, we want you to know that most of us have had a “first Sunday” experience and we really want yours to be as warm and inviting as possible. We will do our best to help you feel welcome and experience the presence of our living and loving God. Come and join us on a journey of life in faith together.

Style of worship.

We have been at this for over 130 years and we try to make each worship experience fresh and relevant, as well as traditional and reverent. We pray, we sing, we listen to the word of God as it is spoken and sung by our choir and gifted soloists. Check out previous sermon texts and recordings which are available on this website. We celebrate the Lord’s Supper (communion) on the first Sunday of each month.

Children are welcome.

We provide our youngest members with warm and nurturing care by staff and church members in our nursery during both worship hours as well as during the education hour. Children are an integral part of our church family and are welcomed participants in worship. An usher is happy to offer activity bags to children as they enter worship. During the 11:00 worship celebration, the children are invited to come forward for a Conversation with the Children. Then, young children may stay in the service with their parents or may attend Little Lights with our Associate Pastor and volunteers.

Faith formation.

Each Sunday, education programs are offered to all ages. Please refer to the Christian Education page for up-to-date information about the dynamic programs that help us deepen our relationship with Jesus Christ and equip us for living and serving as disciples through basic bible study as well as current issues explored in light of our faith. New students are always welcome.

Prayer is important to us.

We welcome requests for particular joys or concerns to be included in the Prayers of the People during worship. Please write your request on a Prayer Request Card and give it to an usher prior to the service. We also have a very active prayer chain which accepts prayer requests made by emailing the church office.

Special note to those with mobility and hearing challenges.

Our facility is fully accessible. There are designated disabled parking spaces by the sanctuary entrance and in the main parking lot in front of the church. A hearing loop system makes connection to your own hearing aids seamless. An usher is happy to help you upon request so you can hear both the music, sermon and liturgy.

Meeting the Pastor & learning about the life of the church.

Are you a visitor or a new resident of our community? Our pastor would love to welcome you and answer any questions you may have about our church. Conversations and meetings over coffee are encouraged and may be set up by contacting the church office.

Regular Inquirers Conversations about “Being a Presbyterian” and to learn about opportunities offered at Bon Air Presbyterian Church are hosted by the Hospitality & Welcome committee periodically throughout the year along with opportunities to join in fellowship at Wednesday night suppers.
