New BAPC Music Director

Welcome, Beverley Edwards!

The Music Director Search Committee of Bon Air Presbyterian Church is delighted to introduce to you Mrs. Beverley Edwards as our next Music Director.

Beverley is a graduate of Barton College (Bachelor’s in Music Education), Campbell University (Master’s in Mental Health Counseling), and East Carolina University (Master of Music, with concentration in Sacred Music).

A music director, organist, and choir director since 1998, Beverley has served churches throughout North Carolina and the Richmond area. From 2012-2021, she served as the Director of Music and Organist for Christ the King Lutheran Church, our neighbor congregation on Huguenot Road. Most recently, she has served as Principal Organist at First Presbyterian Church of Richmond. Beverley is also the Director of Choirs at Powhatan Middle School, in Powhatan County where she lives with her family.

The committee is thrilled to be welcoming such a talented and accomplished music director, choir leader, bell choir director, organist, and pianist to our church community. At her audition in the BAPC sanctuary, Beverley blew us away with her organ and piano pieces. But what really won us over was when she taught us to sing a brand new song. Leading us to sing in multiple parts, she guided us with trust, energy, joy, and connection. We know that Beverley will be a huge gift to our congregation, our choir, our bell choir, our strong music community, and the wider community here in Bon Air, Virginia.

Beverley is also excited for this next calling, sharing, “I am looking forward to getting to know the Bon Air Presbyterian community, working with the wonderful staff, and continuing the excellent musical tradition established there.” Virginia.

Beverley will be starting as Music Director of Bon Air Presbyterian on Tuesday July 5th. Her first Sunday leading us in worship will be Sunday July 10th. We so hope you will join us in welcoming Beverley with joy, excitement, and great hospitality here at Bon Air Presbyterian Church.
